ABSTRACT

In the laboratory or in the clinic, it is rare to see a piece of instrumentation standing alone to accomplish a specific task. More often than not, two, three, or more individual instruments must be interconnected to accomplish the task at hand. As an example, to record a sample of speech, you may need to connect a microphone to a tape recorder. Then, to play back that speech sample, you may need an amplifier and a loudspeaker connected to the tape recorder.
