ABSTRACT

Anne Frank did not survive the Holocaust. Although she lived to see D-Day, she and her family were arrested from their hiding place and she died of typhus at Bergen-Belsen shortly before British troops liberated the camp in 1945. Her diary lives today as an account of the trials of Jews in hiding during World War II. As with Anne Frank, the writing aspect of literacy includes the elements of self-clarification, individual empowerment, and even political repercussions.
