ABSTRACT

The phrase, “electronic delivery of news and information” refers to a broad concept of presenting news and information in an electronic form. This includes publishing on CD-ROMs as well as making information available through online services such as the case of the WWW. One definition of an electronic publication considers it to be “a publication which requires the user to employ an electronic device at some stage for its reception and/or its reading” (Vickers & Martyn, 1994, p. 4). Thus, with electronic publishing, information is distributed and/or stored electronically so that any one can access it via some form of electronic delivery system. Electronic publishing has also been envisaged as electronic commerce in “digital goods” and services that are intended for consumption by the human senses (Clarke, 1999).
