Cultural Competence in Differential Diagnosis: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Reactive Attachment Disorder

Natasha was a 4½-year-old girl living with her adoptive mother. This beautiful child was adopted from an orphanage in Rumania at 2 years of age. Little is known of her health history except from the orphanage staff and some brief medical reports. Her biological mother was 28 years old and it was her fifth pregnancy. At birth, the mother left Natasha at the

hospital where she remained for her 1st year of life until transferred to an orphanage.
