ABSTRACT
Before you read this chapter, what will you say to the server at a restaurant who comes to your table and asks, wearily, “What do you people want?” What would you think if the public address announcer at a concert or sporting event opens with, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered have today …“? There’s nothing grammatically wrong with either statement. What is wrong?
