ABSTRACT
One of the most powerful aspects of human thought is our ability to sort objects and experiences into categories and then apply our knowledge about the category to deal with the case at hand. This is an extremely handy thing to be able to do. Categorical reasoning is the basis of our legal system. The same sort of reasoning guides a physician when he makes a diagnosis.
