ABSTRACT

Projection and card pull have long been recognized as complementary influences on the Rorschach response process, in keeping with the widely shared observations noted in chapter 1 that the RIM serves both as a test of perception and a test of association. When people respond in terms of their personal associations to the inkblots, the responses they formulate are based largely on projection. When they respond in terms of the stimulus characteristics of the inkblots, the responses they articulate are based largely on card pull.
