ABSTRACT

The previous chapters have focused on helping you to carefully plan, thoroughly prepare, and effectively teach your courses. Now it is time to consider how you can evaluate the outcome of your teaching efforts, identify areas of weakness, and develop a plan for making improvements in those areas. These considerations are important not only because they can affect your prospects for salary increases, retention, promotion, and tenure, but also because teaching is more satisfying and enjoyable-for you and your students-when you have found ways to do it to the best of your ability.
