ABSTRACT

The Bridging Cultures Module was designed to help pre-service and in-service educators understand the role of culture in education and learning from the perspective of two differing cultural value systems, individualism and collectivism. It is especially well suited for teachers, but it has also been used for training school counselors and administrators as well. This chapter offers a script of how to present the Bridging Cultures Project. It is organized as a three-hour module wherein participants explore the differences between the values of school and the values of immigrant Latino families through a variety of classroom-based problems.
