ABSTRACT
This poetry anthology includes all the poems discussed in Chapter Two of this book, and a few which extend and amplify the themes and issues discussed in other chapters. Some of them are read and discussed on the BBC television programme and audio-cassette produced in association with this book. Poems printed elsewhere in the book are: Charlotte Perkins Gilman, 'An Obstacle' (p.vii); Sylvia Plath, 'The Bull of Bendylaw' (p.7); James Joyce, extract from 'Chamber Music' (pp.7-8); A.S.
