ABSTRACT

In Israel, the official, educational system only started to prepare itself for peace in the past decade, and even these efforts have not been comprehensive or in tensive enough. Grassroots groups and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that have developed various philosophies and methodologies to cope with the violent warlike reality have done work over the years that is important but not far reaching enough. One of these organizations, perhaps the oldest of its kind, is The Jewish-Arab Center for Peace at Givat Haviva (JACP), located in the heart of the Wadi 'Ara region-an area characterized by a mosaic of an ethnically mixed population.
