ABSTRACT

Was this merely a temporary blip on the community relations' map? Alterna tively, is this worrying evidence that some 25 years and millions of pounds of investment in peace education work in Northern Ireland has had such a super ficial effect, that it can be thrown off course, just at the time when one might suggest it was needed most? After some introductory material, this chapter ex amines evidence concerning naturally occurring intergroup contact in Northern Ireland and the efforts that have been made to enhance this contact. Following this overview, the possible impact contact may have had on intergroup behavior is reviewed.
