ABSTRACT

Humanity is confronted with the challenge of countering the unprecedented violence in Rwanda that has resulted in unending streams of refugees and in widespread killing. There has been widespread physical destruction as well as general deterioration of the social fabric, for visible destruction has been accompa nied by hatred arising between different groups, social exclusion and injustice, un equal distribution of resources, and political manipulation. In order for these related and complex problems to be tackled, it is imperative that a culture of peace replace the culture of war and violence.
