Literacy in Rural Vermont: Lessons From Schools Where Children Succeed

Children who are poor, schools that are strapped for resources, and families who struggle are facts of life everywhere. Although Vermont is among the most rural states in the country, there are cities and towns, suburbs and villages-a range of communities. In this chapter, however, we discuss the most rural schools in the state.
