ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the ethics for screenwriters, Marilyn Beker Screenwriting with a conscience. It includes bibliographical references and index. It seems to me that part of writing is having so many ideas about life, about people, places, and events, that there could never ever possibly be a problem thinking of stories to tell. The chapter explores how to take ideas from real life and make them own, do the following exercise. Read at least one newspaper each morning. Choose newspapers rather than radio or television because most newspapers deal with the events of the day in more depth. Of course, the better the newspaper, the deeper the story. Make a list of particularly memorable or interesting events in our own life. Wrap stories around each event or use each event to kick off stories not related at all to our own life.
