ABSTRACT
My students think villaneros are “cool.” There’s a long list of memorable villaneros: Freddy Krueger (in the Freddy horror films), Dracula (in all the various vampire movies), Travis Bickle (in Taxi Driver), Hannibal Lechter (in Silence of the Lambs), Vincent Vega (in Pulp Fiction), and many more of that ilk, and they’ve all made being bad seem kind of fun and glamorous. I’m sure you won’t have much trouble making a list of some of your favorite villaneros.
