ABSTRACT

Throughout this volume, we have looked at how the narratives married couples told about their lives together were useful in understanding their relationship. We examined how Year 1 narratives spoke to the experiences of newlyweds, how the narratives changed over time, whether the narratives varied by race and gender, what the narratives told us about different levels of well-being, and how well-being shaped the directions the narratives took over time. When all is said and done, what can we now say we have learned about narratives that we did not know before we began?
