ABSTRACT

There are not many psychologists who are as renowned for their contributions to the teaching of psychology as are Charles Brewer and Bill McKeachie. It is noteworthy that they spent their careers in distinctly different academic environments, demonstrating that it is possible to acquire a national reputation for teaching regardless of the type of school at which a person teaches. Charles and Bill are veritable institutions at their respective schools. Charles is at Furman University, a liberal arts college in Greenville, South Carolina. Bill is at the University of Michigan—a Carnegie Research I University.
