ABSTRACT

We are fortunate to be teachers of psychology. We have a fascinating, continually developing subject to teach, and we have students in our classes who are primarily there because of their interest in the subject matter rather than because our courses are required. In this, my 55th year of teaching, I still enjoy preparing for the next week’s classes, leading discussions, lecturing, presenting demonstrations, working with teaching assistants, interacting with students from diverse backgrounds, reading student journals—even commenting on and grading tests. To cap this year, I have the great honor to be associated with my good friend, Charles Brewer, in this book. I am grateful to Steve Davis and Bill Buskist for including me, and I am grateful to the authors of the preceding chapters. I have read and learned much from them.
