ABSTRACT

The NASA program is of paramount importance to society. People know that exploring space is a cultural activity which adds meaning to their lives. If they give up the exploration of space, the next step will be to give up other government funded science programs, because they are not profitable. Furthermore, in an age when we are left without heroes, a goal-oriented space program gives the youth of the world a dream. Apart from these social advantages there are a great many economical benefits to the Mars project. The employment opportunities that are created will attract a larger segment of the student population to the sciences. A number of these will branch out into projects of their own, compounding the benefit by bolstering an industry of sciences. The major argument to have special sentencing for juvenile offenders rests on the assumption that juveniles can not acknowledge the consequences of their actions like adults.
