ABSTRACT

Writing centers are dynamic environments, educational spaces that encourage continual reflection and reassessment. Working in writing centers and within their one-to-one and small-group writing tutorials forces writing center staff to revisit previously accepted ideas as part of the process of dealing with the fluid and shifting situations encountered within writing tutorials. Writing centers provide an unending chain of “ah-ha” moments-encounters and realizations that shape one’s educational theory and practice. For example, one such catalyst for change occurred when I worked as a consultant during graduate school.
