ABSTRACT

The People’s Republic of China is the world’s most populous nation with about 1.3 billion people (Yan, 2000). Also, it is one of the most enduring countries, having remained intact for about 5,000 years. Survival of a state requires ongoing support or, at the very least, lack of effective opposition from sources such as citizens. Thus, such longevity could be viewed in part as a public relations achievement.
