Cadbury Schweppes CEO Adrian Cadbury is profiled in this case to illustrate how his managerial ethical leadership influenced not only his firm but also the practice of business. Cadbury always focused on building personal relationships within the firm. The two characteristics he most emphasized were fairness and openness, which are important for upholding ethical business practices. Cadbury even developed methods to help managers make ethical choices in business decisions. George Adrian Hayhurst Cadbury was born in 1929 and educated at Eton and King's College at Cambridge University. He was the fourth generation of his Quaker family to head Cadbury Schweppes, the maker of chocolate products and beverages. Two characteristics of Cadbury Schweppes that he emphasized were fairness and openness. The firm has developed a reputation for fairness in the normally hostile British labor environment and provided complete information to various power groups.
