ABSTRACT

A. Diane Moeller says that leadership development within the Catholic Health Corporation (CHC) starts with recruitment. In the following case, A. Diane Moeller, the incoming chair of the Healthcare Forum and president and chief executive officer of CHC, discusses leadership development in the healthcare industry, CHC's commitment to community service, what lies ahead for the Healthcare Forum, and the future for women in the healthcare industry. The healthcare industry needs to have strong leaders, rather than politicians, plan its future. Leadership development within her own organization starts with recruitment. Many healthcare organizations are realizing the importance of using strategic alliances to support growth. The two attributes healthcare leaders need are security and maturity. Currently, some 40 percent of conference participants are attending as part of a team, which indicates how prevalent is the need for team development.
