ABSTRACT

Many organizations have been making the effort to reengineer their structure to increase efficiency and effectiveness. One of the predominant efforts has been to introduce integrated information technology systems such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) to integrate communications and database systems within organizations. This case examines the outlook toward the implementation of an ERP in three different organizations. Building on the global wave of reengineering efforts, there has been a dramatic change occurring in organizations with the introduction of integrated information technology systems such as ERP. Integrated information technology systems such as ERP have the ability to dramatically change the way people organize work flow processes, and can place organizations well into the future in terms of their relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, and global markets. There are many ways that an organization can approach the integration of new technology, which may also say a great deal about its leadership.
