ABSTRACT

Jennifer is a city person, born and bred. She attended a university in the city, scorning the idea of going away when her parents suggested it. She knows the city inside and out, the people, the places, and now its children, as she student taught in city schools. She’s comfortable in this setting and jokes about the purity of air and landscapes she experiences when visiting friends and relatives in the suburbs. She claims the “burbs are a nice place to visit.” One can appreciate Jennifer’s sense of humor on first meeting her. She loves the city and is particularly entranced with the diversity of cultures and ethnic groups. It is no wonder that she is determined to find a teaching position in the city.
