ABSTRACT
I n its 2000 listing of "America's Best Companies for Minorities," Fortunemagazine honored the Advantica Restaurant Group, the parent company of the Denny's, Coco's, and Carrows restaurant chains, as the very best in the nation. Of the 1,200 companies Fortune compared, Advantica ranked highest in 15 categories, including minority representation on boards of directors; number of minority corporate officers, officials, and managers; number of minorities among the 50 highest-salaried employees; number of minorities in the total workforce; new minority employees hired in the past year; retention of minority employees; and diversity training.
