Although debates may rage as to when other aspects of parenthood begin, one thing is clear: Legal regulation of parenthood begins before conception (e.g., reproductive rights) and touches on matters ranging from transporting children (e.g., child safety restraint laws) to income taxation (e.g., deductions for dependents). The scope of regulation is no less than awesome.
