Victims: The Consequences of Family Violence

So far, we have discussed several important issues; the definition of violence in general and family violence in particular, the frequency of violence, the types of behaviors that may or may not be called violent, and finally, the characteristics of perpetrators of violence and the possible causes of their violence. In this chapter, the focus shifts to victims and considers the effects and consequences of either witnessing or being the target of violence in the home.
