ABSTRACT
This chapter will illustrate that probability can help determine the odds of events occurring in practice. For example, a deck of cards contains 52 cards. A deck of cards has four suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, and Clubs). Therefore each suit has 13 cards (4×13=52). The probability of selecting any Heart from a deck of cards would be 13/52=.25. This would be the same probability for selecting any Diamond, Spade, or Club, assuming selection with replacement of the card each time. Similarly, there are four Kings (one in each suit). The probability of selecting a King out of a deck of cards would be 4/52=.076923.
