ABSTRACT
The World Wide Web (WWW) has implied an explosion in network-mediated information exchange. Its ubiquitous nature and technical strengths, in particular, the flexible hypermedia document format and the general communication protocol, have given users a powerful infrastructure for sharing knowledge and for interactive communication. This has created new research questions with respect to how people conceptualize the Web, and how the use of this medium is embedded in their professional activities.
