When everyone thinks alike, no one thinks at all … 1 consider the diversity of Yugoslav reality to be a fact of nature … Maintaining a life in tension between your native culture and foreign ones is doubtlessly exhausting since it forces you to examine the validity of your own assumptions. But that is the only productive way. Whenever we try to eliminate the tension, it comes back with a vengeance … The Serbian inability to accept differences reared its Medusa’s head in Kosovo, long before the outbreak of war.
