ABSTRACT
Ellie and Franny’s conversation, centered on the real and imagined boys in their lives, focuses our attention on an aspect of students’ visual representation of meaning beyond that of their growing technical skills as artists and their desire to represent meaning. Their artworks and the contexts in which the artworks are created provide reminders of the ideologies underpinning and permeating these artworks as expressed by their sign-makers.
