ABSTRACT

When Paul introduced his model, he began by asking the group to examine the political, structural, economic trends, and activities of their own unique communities. He pointed out that because the school is a part of the larger community it is infl uenced by as well as infl uences the directions and activities of the broader community. Understanding how one’s school and school-related activities are situated within the social, economic, political, and physical community is essential toward gaining clarity and insight into school policies and practices.
