ABSTRACT
Much attention has currently been paid to the concepts of the global community and the global economy. In order for any nation to become a participant in the global community, it had first to develop a strong national identity. Telegraphic technology aided in further developing this spirit of nationalism which had its roots in the American Revolution in 1776 and the War of 1812, and which was especially crucial to America in its infancy.
