ABSTRACT
HIV/AIDS will be with us for a while. People will contract HIV and gradually learn to
integrate the virus into their everyday lives, surviving as best they can through a
combination of drug therapy and old-fashioned optimism. The fortunate ones will live
productive lives; the less fortunate will die soon after they contract the virus. This is
another dimension of the AIDS pandemic, one with salient communication dimensions.
