ABSTRACT

In her discussion of the research on peer discourse, Donahue (chap. 10, this volume) presents a number of themes that have evolved over the course of the last 30 years. She identifies a current challenge for those interested in understanding research related to specific populations. That challenge is making sense of two separate lines of research, one for students with learning disabilities (LD) and the other for students with specific language impairment (SLI). Donahue provides the reader with an opportunity to consider the interrelationship between these two lines of research, suggesting that children with learning disabilities and specific language impairment are being discussed from the same population.
