ABSTRACT

Synopsis Whereas 2nd Language struggles are universal in life and leadership, 3rd Language events, centered around mild to moderate psychiatric conditions, are commonplace. In this chapter, we attempt to demystify such problems and their predisposing personality traits as they interface with people in leadership roles. Interventions that would be helpful in such situations are offered that include 2nd Language strategies. The two examples are a leader with an adjustment disorder and a leader with a major depressive disorder. Concluding comments are made concerning the interlinking of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Languages of leadership.
