ABSTRACT
Synopsis We have a dual focus in this chapter. First, we briefly explore the fundamental question regarding the extent to which an individual’s personality characteristics change. This question is relevant for the individual leader who has personality features that both enhance and impair leading. The answer is that adult personality traits in general don’t change much. However, a spectrum of behavior that is realistic within a personality trait does offer a variety of options for a leader who must adapt to a particular situation.
