ABSTRACT

Synopsis Goal setting is a process of converting information into intentions and then developing a system to achieve them. This chapter clarifies the value of goal setting, identifies the characteristics that are associated with successful goal setting, and includes both a Goal Process Matrix (GPM) and a Goal Outcome Matrix (GOM) that operationalize the specific steps taken to be successful. An example is offered about how this might apply to a 2nd Language strategy. This set of information is one way of making the shift from awareness to action in employing your 2nd Language strategy.
