ABSTRACT

As we discovered, the Computer as Learning Partner (CLP) curriculum succeeded for a diverse set of learners and achieved a complex set of goals because it included a rich variety of features.

When we revisited the students we first had met in the eighth grade, we were pleased to find that CLP had provided a firm foundation for their future science learning. In their high school interviews, these students demonstrated that they had found new learning partners, including some they had encountered but not used in the eighth grade. Maturity combined with many role models for knowledge integration and some powerful scientific ideas had enabled CLP students to integrate their knowledge successfully after completing the CLP course.
