ABSTRACT
Path models are structural equation models that consist of complex paths between latent
and/or observed variables, often including both direct and indirect effects, or reciprocal
effects between variables. As mentioned in Chapter Twelve, often a distinction is made
between the structural and the measurement part of a model. The measurement model
specifies how the latent factors are measured by the observed variables, and the structural
model specifies the structure of the relationships between the theoretical constructs,
which may be latent factors or observed variables in the model.
