ABSTRACT

This book begins with a rationale for considering and assessing affective characteristics. In chapters 2 through 7 the focus turns toward definitional concerns, the selection and design of good, affective instruments, and the analysis and interpretation of affective data. The purpose of this final chapter is to discuss the potential uses of affective information for school improvement. This chapter is divided into four major sections, each corresponding with a problem area in which the results of affective assessment can be used productively: motivating students, designing learning environments, building character, and considering affective consequences.
