ABSTRACT

Given the wealth of research and publications on Latino voting in the United States, there is little dispute that voting is a key element in Latino political participation and efforts to gain political power. Wrinkle et al. (1996, 145) affirm that “[t]he mobilization of voters, especially ethnic voters, is one of the most important aspects of electoral success.” Lozada (1996) suggests that, through voter registration, Latinos can “alter their political destiny.”
