ABSTRACT

COLOGNE, the city of the cathedral and the centre of traffic, is completely thrown on its own resources. It is neither supported by a group of big cities with similar economic interests, nor does it have the additional attraction of being the capital of a German 'Land.' Its character is still, as it always has been, determined by its geographical situation.
