ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, the extent of cheating on tests was presented. However, the focus of that chapter was on cheating among grade school students, high schoolers, and college undergraduates. Unfortunately, cheating is not limited to those groups. In this chapter, cheating in the professions is examined. In particular, plenty of evidence exists concerning cheating by professionals-architects, physicians, dentists, and so on-in the context of their in-training, licensure, and certification examinations. Perhaps more disconcerting is the prevalence of cheating by teachers in the form of inap-propriately assisting their students on various tests. In the following sections, the available data on these phenomena are presented and summarized.
