ABSTRACT

In the opening credits for the hugely popular cartoon comedy, The Simpsons, Bart is seen in detention, writing a sentence on the chalkboard numerous times, apparently as punishment for one of his regular transgressions. “I will not expose the ignorance of the faculty” is one such sentence, in this case occurring at the end of an episode that takes on such educational issues as standardized testing, career education, gender bias, student rebellion, and teacher and administrator performance.
