ABSTRACT

After World War II, Marshall Plan aid from the United States set the stage for coordination of education among European nations and for the globalization of educational policies. The European Union and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) are two organizational outgrowths of Marshall Plan aid. Currently, the European Union is generating education policies for the global economy. These policies include lifelong learning, creating a learning society, organizing people into learning relationships, fabricating European unity, implementing a Personal Skills Card, and supporting worker and student mobility among Member nations. The OECD is coordinating similar education policies on a global scale.
