ABSTRACT

Training systems for military aircrews are developed to help the end user (the military aviator) learn quicker and perform better in the aircraft. These training systems are traditionally developed by engineers, training experts, and a customer organization that represents the end user and oversees the development and purchase of the system. End users, on the other hand, are often left out of the development process and do not have the opportunity to participate in the design and development of the systems they are supposed to use. It is our experience that meaningful user involvement is often critical to the successful development of any training system. The most effective structure to support such an effort is an integrated development team in which the user is actively involved with engineers, training experts, and the customer.
