ABSTRACT

Let me begin with a brief synopsis of Stanley’s life. He was born on August 15, 1933. He grew up primarily in the Bronx, which at the time was considered a pleasant place to live for middle-class immigrant families. His Hungarian father and Romanian mother were hardworking people who emphasized to their three children the importance of education, of having a profession, and of maintaining relations with the family. Stanley’s sister Margie was 1½ years older than he, and his brother Joel was 5 years younger. For whatever reason, Stanley seemed closer to his brother; the two had fun playing various kinds of games and pranks.
